Why does my Motorola baby monitor say LL for temperature?
It means the temperature is too low (LL), or too high (HH).
The temperature sensor of the Infant Optics baby is good, but it's not as accurate as standard thermometers. While this is expected, the results often differ by up to five to eight degrees, which is very significant.
Switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius by pressing and holding the Video On/Off button for 4-seconds.
Turn your thermostat “off”, then flip the related circuit breaker “off”. Wait 30 seconds, then turn the breaker back “on,” then the thermostat. Set the thermostat to hot or cold, whichever you prefer, and your desired temperature. This should effectively reset it.
You don't want your baby's room to be either too hot or too cold. It's recommended that the best temperature for babies is between 68 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit or 20 to 22 degrees Celsius. Babies are more sensitive to changes in room temperature because they're so small and their bodies are still growing.
Warm water is best. To prevent scalding, set the thermostat on your water heater to below 120 F (49 C). Always check the water temperature with your hand before bathing your baby. Aim for bath water around 100 F (38 C).
What is Fahrenheit? Fahrenheit is a scale used to measure temperature based on the freezing and boiling points of water. Water freezes at 32 degrees and boils at 212 degrees Fahrenheit. This is used as a metric for determining hotness and coldness.
For best results in babies and toddlers up to 3 years of age, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends taking the temperature rectally, by placing a thermometer in the baby's anus. This method is accurate and gives a quick reading of the baby's internal temperature.
Oral and axillary temperature readings are about ½° to 1°F (. 3°C to . 6°C) below rectal. Add these numbers to oral and axillary temperature readings for the most accurate reading.
A normal temperature in babies and children is about 36.4C, but this can vary slightly. A high temperature or fever is usually considered to be a temperature of 38C or above. Your baby may have a high temperature if they: feel hotter than usual to touch on their forehead, back or stomach.
How do I change the temperature setting from Fahrenheit to Celsius?
The Temperature Conversion Formula
If interested, here is the formula. To convert temperatures in degrees Fahrenheit to Celsius, subtract 32 and multiply by .5556 (or 5/9). To convert temperatures in degrees Celsius to Fahrenheit, multiply by 1.8 (or 9/5) and add 32.
A: Press and hold the SHORTCUT button for 3 seconds to toggle between Celsius and Fahrenheit.

Android: Go to Day One > Settings > Units.
To reset mechanical thermostats, simply turn off the thermostat and flip the circuit breaker. This can be done by going to the breaker panel and turning off the appropriate breaker switch for 30 seconds. After turning the breaker back on, turn the thermostat back on and the thermostat should be reset.
Simply press and hold the up (▲) or down (▼) buttons for 3 seconds. The Chameleon thermostat display will change to show the word “SET”, and the active set point for the current mode.
Luckily, this is very easy to do. You only need to find the shortcut button on the monitor and press and hold it for three to five seconds. You will then see that the unit will change from one to the other of Fahrenheit or Celsius. Prevent tech issues with Tech Supportal.
Overheating may increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) in babies one month to one year of age. Many experts recommend that the temperature in the room where a baby's sleeps be kept between 68–72°F (20–22.2°C).
Signs of Chilling
Babies that are too cold will not exert the energy it takes to cry, and may be uninterested in feeding. Their energy is being consumed by trying to stay warm. A baby that is dangerously chilled will have cold hands and feet and even baby's chest will be cold under his or her clothes.
Signs of hypothermia include shivering, breathing slowly and having pale, cool skin. Babies who are hot, tend to look uncomfortable. Like adults who overheat, a baby's skin will become red, and they will look flushed.
The water heater on the faucet can also be set to a maximum of 48.8°C (120 °F) for added precaution. Bath water that is too cold can cause a significant drop in the newborn's body temperature. In the event of hypothermia, which is a temperature of less than 35 °C (95°F), the newborn will experience cold stress.
How long can a newborn go without a bath?
But for most families, bathing the baby two to three times a week is plenty after the first couple of weeks of life. In fact, we recommend delaying your newborn's first full bath for at least two weeks.
A safe bath temperature for babies and children is 37-38°C. Scalds can happen in seconds if bath water is too hot. Reduce scalding risk by lowering the temperature of the water coming out of your taps to a maximum of 50°C. Check water temperature before putting your child into the bath.
Fahrenheit temperature scale, scale based on 32° for the freezing point of water and 212° for the boiling point of water, the interval between the two being divided into 180 equal parts.
The average normal body temperature is generally accepted as 98.6°F (37°C).
There is also the fact that Fahrenheit is a more precise scale than Celsius, meaning the difference in temperature between each degree is smaller.
The system that controls body temperature is not well developed in a newborn. Call your baby's healthcare provider immediately if your baby is younger than 3 months old and has a rectal temperature or forehead (temporal artery) of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher.
At What Temperature Does My Baby Have a Fever? A baby's normal temperature can range from about 97 to 100.3 degrees Fahrenheit. Most doctors consider a rectal temperature of 100.4 F or higher as a fever.
A child has a fever when the temperature is at or above one of these levels: 100.4°F (38°C) measured in the bottom (rectally) 99.5°F (37.5°C) measured in the mouth (orally)
So we can verify, yes a thermometer can give you a false reading even if you follow all the instructions. Just be on the lookout for the obvious red flags. Both Lipschitz and Lumsden also suggest replacing your thermometer every few years.
Call your health care provider if your temperature is 103 F (39.4 C) or higher. Seek immediate medical attention if any of these signs or symptoms accompanies a fever: Severe headache. Rash.
Why does a fan reduce SIDS?
In other words, a fan will help regulate the levels of carbon dioxide in a room. Furthermore, studies have shown that by opening a window in a bub's room, the risk of SIDS is reduced by 36%. On the other hand, sleeping with a fan in the room reduces the risk of SIDS by 72%.
Do Babies Sleep Better in a Cold Room? Babies tend to sleep better in a comfortably cool room. Because babies have a greater proportion of exposed surface area for their weight, it is easier for them to lose body heat.
The results found that running a fan in a sleeping infant's room lowered the risk for SIDS by 72 percent. That risk was lowered even further when the infant's sleeping conditions put him or her at higher risk for SIDS, such as sleeping in a warm room or sleeping on the stomach.
What does LL mean on infant optics? If the temperatures reads LL or HH, it's telling you that the temperature is too high or too low. Mine occasionally says this but it's generally an error that rights itself shortly.
- Launch the Hubble for Motorola Monitors app.
- Tap the Menu icon at the top left.
- Scroll down to Application Settings and select.
- Tap the C or F button to select the temperature unit.
Temperature Error is the deviation of a measurement reading caused by a change in media or environmental temperature. The temperature is normally expressed as a maximum error value of all possible measurements, expressed either as a percentage of full scale or in the appropriate input or output measurement units.
Step 1: How to Use a Temperature Sensor
Using the TMP36 is easy, simply connect the left pin to power (2.7-5.5V) and the right pin to ground. Then the middle pin will have an analog voltage that is directly proportional (linear) to the temperature. The analog voltage is independent of the power supply.
Oregon Scientific weather stations, thermometers, weather forecasters, atomic clocks with temperature indicate the temperature or humidity reading is out of range by displaying LL. L (too low) or HH. H (too high).
Underarm (axillary) and forehead temperatures are considered to be the least accurate because they're taken outside of the body rather than inside. These temperatures can be as much as a full degree lower than oral body temperature.
Temps done in the armpit are the least accurate. Armpit temps are useful for screening at any age. Age under 3 months old (90 days old). An armpit temp is the safest and is good for screening.

One way to solve a CPU over temperature error is to increase the cooling capacity of your computer by adding more cooling fans. If your computer case has room for additional fans, you can install them yourself or have a professional do it for you. Another solution is to purchase a CPU cooler.
- Gross Errors.
- Random Errors.
- Systematic Errors.
There are four types of temperature sensors that are most commonly used in modern-day electronics: thermocouples, RTDs (resistance temperature detectors), thermistors, and semiconductor based integrated circuits (IC).
Submerge your temperature sensor in the hot water and wait a few seconds to let your multimeter take a reading. Write down your reading so you can easily reference it. A hot water reading should give you around . 25 volts.
